State President Vo Van Thuong visits the Vietnam Bishops’ Conference
(CGOL) On the morning of August 7, State President Vo Van Thuong visited the Vietnamese Bishops’ Conference at the Office of the Vietnam Bishops’ Conference in Ho Chi Minh City.
This is the first time, President Vo Van Thuong has visited the Vietnam Bishops’ Conference as President.

Announcing the results of the visit to the Vatican, the State President said he had met with Pope Francis and worked with the Prime Minister of the Holy See – Cardinal Pietro Parolin. According to the state President, according to the custom in July every year, the Pope and the Holy See rarely arrange a schedule to receive guests.
However, the meeting between State President Vo Van Thuong and Pope Francis took place longer than expected. The Pope agreed to send his words and the message to fellow Vietnamese Catholics.
During the work with the Prime Minister of the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the two sides affirmed that the Vietnam-Vatican relationship is developing better and better and achieving substantive results; agreed to continue promoting this good relationship. Vietnam and the Vatican have approved the Regulation on the operation of the Resident Representative and the Office of the Permanent Representative of the Holy See in Vietnam.

Bishop Joseph Nguyen Nang expressed his impression and congratulated State President Vo Van Thuong on the results of his visit to Austria, Italy, and the Vatican, which helped improve Vietnam’s international position and prestige in general and brought the country’s importance to the world. In particular, it is necessary to mention the joint effort and consensus of the Catholic community to join hands with the Party, State, and the whole people to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.
Bishop Joseph Nguyen Nang affirmed that in the coming time, the Vietnamese Bishops’ Conference will continue the path of dialogue, communion, and service. The Church also wishes to participate more in the fields of education, health, and people’s livelihood, thereby contributing more to the community.
