Diocese of Lang Son – Cao Bang: Cathedral Parish Solemnly Celebrates the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday Afternoon

(NSGH) At 3:00 p.m. on Good Friday, the day on which the Church commemorates the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ, the People of God of the Cathedral Parish of Cửa Nam devoutly gathered at Lạng Sơn Cathedral to take part in the solemn celebration of the Stations of the Cross around the church grounds.

With the theme, “The Missionary Disciple Walking with the Lord on the Way of the Cross,” the devotion unfolded in a reverent and prayerful atmosphere. Through each station, the faithful were led to contemplate the mystery of Christ’s self-giving love—He who willingly embraced suffering and offered His life for the salvation of humanity.

The reflections at each station bore a clear pastoral dimension, closely connected to the lived realities of the Diocese of Lạng Sơn–Cao Bằng. The image of the Lord’s Cross was mirrored in concrete circumstances: families facing hardship, the sick, the elderly living in solitude, and those who quietly persevere in the faith within mission territories.

This year’s celebration not only commemorated the Lord’s Passion but also awakened in each member of the faithful a renewed awareness of the call to live as “missionary disciples,” following Christ in daily life through love, sacrifice, and service.

At the conclusion of the solemn Stations of the Cross, the community departed in silence and reflection, carrying with them the invitation to continue living the mystery of the Cross in their own lives, becoming witnesses to the Gospel and contributing to the building up of the Church in this mountainous region—still marked by many challenges, yet filled with hope.
